Conway Regional Health System started with humble beginnings when Col. John E. Little donated a tract of land to the city of Conway in 1921 to build a hospital.  Conway Memorial Hospital was organized in 1938, and the hospital moved to its present site in 1957 across the street from the original building where it opened as a 60-bed facility.

Conway Regional Health Foundation

The Conway Regional Health Foundation was established in 1996 to provide financial support to Conway Regional to aid in carrying out its mission of providing excellent health co are in central Arkansas. As a non-profit hospital, all revenues are invested back into Conway Regional.  Donations are used for facility improvements, equipment purchases and community health education.

The Foundation is separately incorporated and is the official fundraising arm for Conway Regional Health System.  All contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Conway Regional Cancer Services

The Conway Regional cancer program is approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer and is staffed with highly-qualified surgeons, nurses, and specialists in hematology, oncology, and oncology radiation.

Conway Regional Critical Care Services

Conway Regional’s Critical Care Unit (CCU) is equipped to provide highly specialized care to patients who suffer from a serious injury or illness.  Typical CCU patients may be recovering from:

  • Respiratory issues, such as pneumonia or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Surgery, if the patient’s conditions warrants critical care

  • Multiple complications related to the overall condition of the patient

Conway Regional Diabetes Education

Conway Regional Diabetes Education offers support services and a Self-Management Training program for those dealing with diabetes. Diabetes educators can be found at health fairs, leading free care groups and in the news teaching the public how to manage diabetes.

In addition, the Conway Regional Diabetes Education program offers a monthly group meeting that is open to the public and is recommended for:

  • Family members and caregivers of people with diabetes
  • People wanting to learn more about diabetes.

Meetings are free and guest speakers discuss topics related to diabetes management at each meeting. No appointment or reservation is ever needed.

Conway Regional Emergency Services

Conway Regional’s Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center, and includes:

  • 24-hour immediate coverage by emergency medicine physicians and the prompt availability of general surgeons and anesthesiologists
  • Incorporates a comprehensive quality assessment program
  • Has developed transfer agreements for patients requiring more comprehensive care at a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
  • Provides back-up care for rural and community hospitals
  • Offers continued education of the nursing and allied health personnel or the trauma team
  • Involved with prevention efforts and must have an active outreach program for its referring communities

The Emergency Department is also an AR SAVES stroke site and is equipped with telemedicine technology, training for personnel, support for dedicated tele-stroke coordinator (nurse facilitator), and ongoing continuing education.

Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital

Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is the only licensed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Faulkner County. Patients are cared for by specialty-trained rehabilitation nursing staff, under the direction of an on-site medical director.  Each patient receives intensive Physical and Occupational Therapy, along with Speech Therapy when indicated. Patients may participate in recreational activities as indicated or desired. In addition, there is a case manager to ensure all needs are addressed upon discharge.

Conway Regional Respiratory Therapy

Registered and certified respiratory therapists are crucial members of the health care team at Conway Regional providing inpatient and outpatient procedures. Respiratory therapists treat and monitor patients’ breathing needs.

A majority of the time, therapists treat patients for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  COPD includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. They perform tests such as lung function and arterial blood gas tests and assist the pulmonologist with biopsies of the lungs.

Therapists also assist with heart and lung services by providing EKG testing and can be found in the Intensive Care Nursery caring for premature infants or on the patient care floors helping patients resume normal breathing after surgery.

Conway Regional Senior Health Care Services

Conway Regional Senior Health Services offers assistance for seniors experiencing symptoms of dementia and other disorders effecting their mental health as well as providing a resource for those caring for seniors with dementia.

Services for seniors are provided through an outpatient clinic, as well as short term inpatient mental health care.

A number of wellness programs are available to senior adults through the Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center, including:

  • Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program – for people limited by impaired joint motion and/or strength
  • Fibromyalgia Aquatics – low to moderate intensity exercise for people with fibromyalgia
  • SilverSneakers Fitness Program – a national program allowing older adults to take greater control of their health.

The surgery department opened in 2012 and includes eight large operating rooms and houses some of the most advanced surgical equipment in central Arkansas. There are 24 labor and delivery rooms, and an additional eight rooms help the Women’s Center staff accommodate almost 1,800 babies per year.

What insurance is accepted at Conway Regional Health System in Arkansas?

The Conway Regional Health System admissions staff is available to answer questions regarding insurance coverage and requirements, payment options, and/or collection procedures including Medicare Supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.

If you have insurance, Conway Regional will file your claim, as long as the hospital has complete and accurate information. If you visited the Emergency Department, it may be necessary for you to contact your Primary Care Provider for a referral or to notify your insurance company of your visit. Your policy may not cover your visit if these requirements are not met.

If you do not have insurance, financial arrangements must be made before scheduled, non-emergent procedures.  Because it is a not-for-profit hospital, Conway Regional makes financial assistance available to eligible patients receiving medically necessary or emergency care.

Conway Regional accepts coverage by several major supplemental health insurance companies.

Because every insurance uses different methods to determine how they pay for hospital services, Conway Regional can provide you an estimate of your costs based on your own insurance plan and coverage. These estimates do not include any physician charges.

The SilverSneakers Fitness program was founded in 1992 with the goals of improving the physical, mental and emotional health of older Americans.  It has grown to become a nationwide network of fitness and wellness facilities that serve more than 12 million people.

Targeting people 65 and older, SilverSneakers offers a diverse range of classes from low impact to high intensity, tailored to meet the individual fitness goals of participants.  Classes include yoga, weight training, Latin dance, aqua-aerobics and dozens of others, each uniquely designed and taught by certified instructors.

Not only does it offer a variety of fitness and social benefits to participants, in many cases a SilverSneakers membership may be free as one of the benefits of several Medicare Advantage programs.

Walk-ins are welcome during all hours of operation, regardless of appointment availability.

*Please note that patients under 2 years of age cannot be seen at the After-Hours Clinic Friday through Sunday.

CARTI/Conway Regional provides patients with the latest in radiation therapy technology as well as caring for the entire patient physically, emotionally and financially.
